EPC Associates

Recruiting and Placing High Technology Professionals Since 1983

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does EPC do?
A: EPC, Associates is a search/staffing firm specializing in the recruitment of professionals for the technology industry.

Q: Another pushy headhunter?
A: Not at all. We prefer the name search/staffing firm. We do not force anyone into a situation that they don't want to get into - this is a losing situation for everyone in the long run. If a match arises, we will simply inform you of the opportunity and go from there. We receive complements repeatedly from candidates that we aren't pushy like many of the other recruiters they've dealt with in the past.

Q: Why do companies need EPC?
A: The technology industry is changing almost on a daily basis. As the market changes, so do the manpower requirements. Search firms such as EPC are one of the sources companies turn to find qualified candidates to meet their employment needs.

Q: How does it work?
A: EPC has been building and maintaining a confidential database of technical professionals' resumes since 1983. When a client company has a new position arise, we are able to search our database for candidates who may be a fit for the position. If your resume shows up as a match for a position, we would call you to see if there would be interest on your part to hear from the company. If so, we would present your background to our client. If the client feels there is a match, we will provide your phone number to them to pursue the opportunity.

What do I have to do?
Just send us your resume and if possible, complete the Personal Datasheet that accompanied this package. Ideally, Email the resume (either in Word, WordPerfect or ASCII format as an attachment or pasted directly into the body of the message) to resumes@epcinc.com. Then either mail the Personal Datasheet in the Postage Paid envelope provided or fax it to us at 800-607-7080. In the Email message, indicate that the Personal Datasheet will follow via fax or mail and write on the top of the Personal Datasheet that the resume was previously Emailed. If you can't Email it for any reason, do not hesitate mailing or faxing both the resume and the Personal Datasheet together.

Q: Who pays for this?
A: All fees are paid by the client companies.

Q: I'm happy where I am. Why should I send EPC my resume?
A: Will you be working with your current company until you retire? If the answer to this question is 'No' or 'I don't know', then you should always have a resume on file with a confidential search firm like EPC. As we mentioned before, you will be informed first of any possible matches for your background - if you're not interested you just have to say so. On the other hand, waiting until you are ready to change can slow down your career advancement because if you are like most of your colleagues, you are too busy working to think about the big picture of your career and if it's time to advance it. Worse yet, if you wait until you have to make a move (layoff, transfer, etc.) you may end up making a lateral or a backwards move rather than a step up.

Q: Is there any hurry?
A: Not necessarily. We work year round for clients to help them staff open positions. Frequently we will work with companies to hold special programs.

Q: What if I have other questions?
